World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 1 is divided into the following sections:
-Preface
-Introduction: Cosmology, describing the various forces, magic schools, realms and cosmic beings of the universe.
-Chapter I: Mythos, describing the origins of the universe, the titans, the Old Gods and the Burning Legion.
-Chapter II: Primordial Azeroth, describing the reign of the Elemental Lords, the arrival of the Old Gods and their war with the titan-forged, as well as the ordering of Azeroth and events such as the Winterskorn War.
-Chapter III: Ancient Kalimdor, detailing the trolls, their war with the aqir, the reign of Lei Shen and the mogu empire, the pandaren revolution and the Zandalari Troll Wars, as well as the history of the night elves up until and including the War of the Ancients.
-Chapter IV: A New World, describing much of the history of Azeroth from the time immediately following the War of the Ancients up until just before the opening of the Dark Portal and the beginning of the First War.
Subjects covered
It covers big events and there are big new things tying together with and revolving around the established information. The core of the book is already established lore. It sheds some light on old lore and establish new things. The book is not written by an in-game character. It doesn't have a section with timeline but the dates are throughout the book. Volume 1 ends with the beginning of Medivh's story.
The following are some of the subjects covered in the Volume 1:
-The creation of the universe.
-The Void, the Twisting Nether and the relationship between them.
-The birth, biology and names of demons.
-Demons predating Sargeras.
-Whether Sargeras is a demon or not and what changed his physical appearance and if he has any demonic titanic watchers.
-All types of magic, energies and forces
--Magic (its definition, categories and types) like Fel and death magic.
--Forces such as the Light as well as their acts such as healing and resurrection.
-The Old Gods' original forces, also known as the Black Empire.
-The numbers of the Old Gods.
-The mantid.
-If Old Gods are undead.
-The titans and where they come from.
--Whether they are angels.
--The titanic watchers such as Tyr, Ra-den and Algalon the Observer.
--The Dragon Aspects.
-Whether or not the trolls are creations of the Old Gods.
-Night elves, their empire, cities, and traditions.
--Use of arcane magic in night elven society.
--Queen Azshara and the rise of the night elf empire as well as the origin of the elves. However, leaders before Azshara are not be included.
--Tyrande, Malfurion, and Illidan.
--Suramar.
--The Well of Eternity.
-How Elune and the Earth Mother relate to mortal cultures.
-Background of the tauren.
-The first druids (Malfurion and tauren).
-While possessing Saidan Dathrohan, Balnazzar was stuck between worlds of living and dead. What exactly it means will be understandable after reading the book.
-Council of Tirisfal
-Government of the Arathor Empire.
-War of the Three Hammers.
-History and culture of the Seven Kingdoms (not in great detail).
-Dwarves (with focus on the three main clans) and vrykul.
--King Ymiron, alongside vrykul clans.

-Hakkar the Soulflayer (not his origins).
-Infernals and their position in demon hierarchy.
-Wrathguards
-The origin of goblins, as well as most of the other playable races, though some get a more in-depth explanation than others.
-Spirit of Life, mortality and immortality.

-Early humans discovering the Light, as well as some information about the Brotherhood of Northshire.
-The fate of Tyr in the Storm Peaks.
-A cosmology chart created by Dave Kosak and links between the August Celestials and Ancient Guardians.
-The circumstances and events leading up to the War of the Ancients Trilogy.
-Flesh-shaping indirectly referenced.
