Here's the best way to kill one of these suckers if you're a fresh 80 like myself:

1. Go to the Southern part of the trench.
2. Drop a bomb.
3. Attack the eel that takes the bait.
4. Here's the key. While you're fighting the eel, drop another bomb when the cooldown is up. It'll shave off another 30k damage, and if you're like me, will mean the difference between killing him and dying.

And yes, Blizzard's quest text is very misleading. They made it sound like the eel would be nearly dead after the first bomb, but it only shaves off about 15% of its health.

It also feels like it's another quest balanced around players that were geared coming into the zone. I rolled a worgen on release day and now have her in Vashj'ir. I arrived in the zone with about 14k health/mana (frost mage) and I was fighting mobs with 34k health. I'm not sure why they thought it'd be a good idea to assume every level 80 was going to be geared, but oh well.
