Unlike the parallel quest Scales of Legend, you do not need to skin Serpentrix for its scale. The scale will drop like regular loot. So no need to worry whether other skinners will beat you to skinning it. Actually, it doesn't even look like Serpentrix is skinnable. Or maybe that's because other people in my party haven't looted it yet.
