Chaos Bolt goes through effects like Dispersion, Cheat Death, and shield wall, since they reduce damage based on an absorption mechanic.
Naj'entus's shield I believe works the same way.
This is all moot, because it's a spell with a faster cast time than incinerate and shadow bolt that hits like a monster truck with a monster truck attached to the front end.
